Amp It Up Fitness provides in-home personal training and group classes to people with Parkinson’s disease. Amp It Up Fitness was created to help bridge the gap between physical therapy and mainstream exercise programs to offer people with Parkinson’s disease specialized exercise programs to meet their unique needs. Classes and personal training sessions implement components from the above-listed certifications to provide the best possible exercise programming for those individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Amp It Up Fitness strives to offer the most current evidence-based approaches for these individuals.

Individual, Activity & Group Classes

It's important that people diagnosed with Parkinson's disease have a healthy and active lifestyle. Our training classes make it easy for people living with Parkinson's to get the exercise they need to stay healthy. Classes are led by our trained instructor, Susan Wiseman, and follow the Parkinson's Foundation exercise guidelines. The classes will also incorporate PWR!Moves® and functional movement. They will vary in formats including circuits, Tabata, and HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training). 

In Home Personal Training
We are offering a completely personalized approach designed to achieve YOUR specific goals. Combining a traditional approach to general conditioning, stability, strength, agility, balance/coordinating, and flexibility while implementing Parkinson's Disease-specific exercise programming through PWR!Moves®
Group Classes
PWR!Moves® class is a whole body, function-focused exercise class that challenges you physically and cognitively in an energizing, supportive environment. It's designed for people looking for a mix of exercise and brain power.
Activity Classes
These classes offer movement and functional mobility exercises that are fun and engaging. These classes are offered in conjunction with independent living facilities or retirement communities. Please contact Susan to discuss your programming needs.

Activity classes are offered to Continuing Care Retirement
Communities, Assisted Living Facilities or Over 55 Communities. They are arranged upon request. Where Group classes are ongoing and offered at an established location (Monroe Aquatic & Fitness Center), Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am. Please note that you must qualify to join. 

Cost depends on a variety of factors for In Home Personal Training and Activity Classes. Please contact Susan to discuss details. 

Group Classes at the Monroe Aquatic & Fitness Center are FREE* (Through support from the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Parkinson’s Exercise & Wellness Program of Monroe) for those who meet eligibility requirements. Please contact Susan for details and to schedule an assessment. 

PWR!Moves® are designed to target motor symptoms known to deteriorate in people with Parkinson’s disease, which often lead to loss of mobility and function. The PWR!Moves® can be practiced in multiple positions, made progressively more physically and cognitively challenging, and be used differently to target each person’s unique symptoms individually. 

  • Complete An Assessment with Susan
  • Able to walk 500 feet on pavement without assistance (if an assistive device is required a care partner MUST assist during class)
  • Able to get in/out of a chair alone with or without use of hands
  • Able to transfer from standing to the ground with or without the use of a chair independently 
  • Able to understand and perform simple task instructions
  • Cooperative and able to recognize the needs of the group
  • Caregivers are encouraged to attend & MUST be in attendance if assistance is required.
